Greetings!
If you happen to stumble on this blog post, you might be bored to death but you're welcome to look if you want to. In my 20s, before I had kids, one of my very favorite things to do was to create 'visual journals' or 'scrapbooks'. For those of you who've never lived without the internet, think Pinterest but on paper and with scissors and glue. I'd sit for hours and hours, listening to talk radio, chatting with my hasband and our friends and just cut and paste and cut and paste. My Scrapbooks were generally always made from wire-bound scetch books because they have high quality paper that wouldn't wrinkle too much when you glued paper to it.
So... the other day I was digging through my ginormous paper crafting closet and noticed ran across my good old scrapbooks. I pulled them out to look thru them a bit and show them to my daughter. It is kind of fun looking into the mind of 20's Heather.
What kinds of things would I scrapbook? Well, I decided that one way to tame/tamp down my hoarding tendencies (Hey, knowing you have them is half the battle, right? Now I only hoard in doll sized items... But I digress...) was to, instead of buying figurines or framed art or jewelry or fashions I liked, I'd simply cut out images of them and paste them in my books. Then, as I began to see 'themes' of similar items, it was like reinforcement of my taste and, if I had enough of that theme, invariably that 'thing', whatever it was, would manifest itself in my real life. Kind of a visual wish list to the universe perhaps... Or also a place to take note of things I really like... Or a place to keep little stickers or mementos (ticket stubs etc) that meant something to me...
So... Hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of pages of this... Books and books... Anyway, as I said, I pulled out one and started flipping through it and *gasp* a few of the pictures started to, ever so slightly, peel up from the pages! Oy!! So, I imagine in another few decades, you'll open the book and have all manner of clippings and what not fall out. Stink. What to do? Then and there I decided I'd just take photos of each page. I *could* scan them but... That might take the rest of my life. So, the photos won't be a 'perfect' copy of them but good enough to 'keep' in case my great-great grandbabies are bored enough to want to flip through the pages of the mind of their Granny.
So, here is the first serving... About 30 pages...? I'll just keep posting them here and link back to this first post to explain them because this will probably be the last I say about them really. Also, please do realize that ALL of these were made long long before I knew Jesus and so... Well, there is a bit of racy and worldy stuff in there. Just a warning.
Hope this finds you having manifested all the amazing things in your scrapbooks too.
xxoo
